Trendy peach, mint & cream - style advice

Friday, May 18, 2012

Peach and mint are two of this year's trendiest colours. They're everywhere - from clothes and handbags to nail polishes and even hair. Easiest to pair with tangerine, coral, cream, white and light grey, these tones are incredibly versatile and fabulous for both work wear and evening wear.

Maxi dresses, collared necklaces, peplum, fringe, and sky-high wedges. These are also all super trendy styles taking the fashion world by storm this summer. I figured, what better than to combine must have colours with must have styles?

How to Style a Silk Leopard Print Maxi Dress

This maxi dress can be worn anywhere - in the office, during the day, in the evening, or to a more formal event. It's all in how you style it and with what other items you pair it. The beauty above sits just under an easy $900 (eek!) but I'm certain you can find something similar suiting whatever your budget may be. For a day at the office, pair with a 3/4 length sleeved solid black cardigan. Add the gorgeous Cut Out Pearl Necklace from Miss Selfridge (pictured above) and a nude patent pump. To finish off the look and achieve a polished appearance, tie hair back in a low bun and keep your earrings simple.

Looking to sport this dress for a night out with your girls? Go bare-armed and adorn your wrists with gold-toned bangles. Better yet - make it rose gold bangles. Slip on some cork or woven wedges and wear your hair down in loose, tousled waves. I recommend the Tigi Pro Professional Fat Curl Stick (review here). Instead of the collared necklace, throw on a long necklace with a funky (augh did I just say funky?) pendant or long earrings. I'm really into the amethyst pendant necklaces available at Urban Outfitters right now.

How to Style a Mint Peplum Skirt

Mint looks breath taking beside an unexpected colour - like bold coral. Pair the above Mint Textured Peplum Skirt from Topshop with a coral silk tank (tucked in) and tan or cognac wedge booties. If you're not into going bare legged, throw on a textured cream stocking - something with a floral woven pattern would take your look from great to gorgeous.

How to Style Super High Wedges

The above Ablaze Wedges from Asos are crying out for attention. Pair these puppies with light washed skinny jeans and a long and loose dark grey tank or t-shirt. Running errands or meeting someone for lunch? Throw on a nude blazer or chunky knit sweater in a colour like sunflower yellow. Whatever you choose, be sure to keep away from too much pattern work on the top half of your outfit. These shoes don't require any competition.
